Wish me luck!

I am a disabled veteran. Unfortunately, in addition to Brunhilde, an 03 Thomas HDX, I own a 98 Astro, which cannot carry my 500 lb scooter, and a 93 Suburban, which can carry my scooter, but is bleeding oil at an alarming rate. So, I went on the hunt for a reliable vehicle that CAN carry my scooter.

Success! I have managed to find one, an 02 GMC Savana Cargo van for $5900 at a local Chevy dealership. This beastie is diesel powered (6.2 L), one owner.

Now, the (hopeful) solution = the VA will pay for a vehicle if the vet is qualified. Well, my foot is falling apart. Does that qualify me?

I was just thinking we haven't heard from you in a bit.

Van sounds very nice- I hope it pans-out for you. I don't know how the VA works, but is there someone you can send a bottle of Scotch to assist in the process? Anybody here a General???

Not only the scooter , but the lift mechanism , too. I just lump it all together. Keeps the dealers on their toes. The local VW dealership never listened to me. They tried to get me into an 07 Buick LaCrosse - max tongue weight of 300 lbs. I also couldn't get into the darned thing!

This GMC Savana can hold my scooter internally. The one the dealer is holding for me has a roof rack, internal shelving for an electrical contractor, and a headache rack. All of those will be removed before the vehicle is delivered to me.

This is the NEW scooter that I'm ordering

Rusty, the OLD purchasing office at Ft Harrison (Montana's VA) operated on baksheesh. That's why my Astro's rear end was torn out. The new regime, I'm told, is quite a bit more honest.
