Won A 2nd Bus

Went and looked at 3 buses last week only 20 mies from me. They had a 98 BB with front end damage that I'm interested in. The 2nd was an 86 BB that would not turn over with the jump box or my new battery, sold for $900. Then they had an 87 BB that cranked right up and ran and I was assured I could drive it home. Got the email notifying me it was ending and I saw it was only at $600 RNM. I called the school and they said reserve was $900. So with a minute to go I put in a bid of $900, a mistake as I could have won it at $620 had I known none else would bid. I assumed my bid would come in at the next increment, but I guess that only applies after reserve is met. I had asked what they do if reserve is not met and he said "get what we can for it. Auction auto extended after my bid by 5 minutes, but ultimately no one else bib and I got it for $900. I'll set it aside to flip or do a roof raise and then flip. I ran an ad in the local paper on Wed. looking for high school kids who want to earn some beer and weed money, to help disassemble tis thing. I'm paying $12/hr and all the cold gatorade. Got a call today from a 42yo guy who's interested in getting into Skoolies, he hadn't heard of us here. It'll keep him busy after he signs up.

From the look of bus prices locally on CL, I can list this for $2500 and flip it quick. That's the plan anyway.

Couple more shots of it. This was from the city school, the county is live auctioning off their buses on the 19th in their yard, no Govdeals.

Looks better in the pics. It has it's share of battlescars. It's definitely 12 years older than my Genesis, huge difference.

So that is the 87BB? What engine and tranny? Any other goodies, air?
Mileage and tires any good on it?
It is a good looking bus.

John
Engine is 8.2, haven't verified Cummins or DD, tranny not verified yet. Tires are in excellent shape. Scariest thing for me is a non working oil pressure gauge, at least I'm hoping it's not working. No tach, no tilt wheel, no cruise. Blows smoke under load. Air brakes, no air seat.

They all blow smoke under load.
What colour smoke do you see? Black is what you want to see, not white or blue.

That big engine needs lots of fuel when you open the throttle.

As I suspected as I think I remember the school guy saying it was "A Detroit then" when I pointed out that it definitely not a 5.9 like the listing said.

John, it does blow black smoke. I'm relieved by your comments. It does not like hills at all.

My Genesis certainly has me spoiled.

That's a great looking bus at a great price. I won't claim to have much knowledge about the DD motors other than their popularity. I wouldn't be at all surprised if a litle soap and water and some good pictures sold it for 4x what you paid.
