That's me!! CBsomthing@something.com... lol . I'm a REGULAR bidder on GovDeals and PS. I bid low and often!
I let this truck go after talking to the service guy. Cool truck but needs EVERYTHING. Its a total resto project pretty much from the way he made it sound.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. It's definitely better to find that out before you decided to bid higher though, that's for sure!

Yeah. If I didn't have two custom moped builds, three running mopeds to maintain, a Ranger project, a BUS project, and a few home improvements to make I'd love to have this truck.
Once my bus is done I've GOT to get going on this pos ford ranger. It was my grampa's and I wanna keep it but its got a worn out engine. I don't wanna put another four banger in it, so I'm gonna have to find a deal on a 302, T5, and 8.8 for it and do it RIGHT!

Yeah- don't need another total project truck. Just a work truck for now.

I wouldn't call the Ford 2.3 a POS, especially after having a 2.2 powered S10.

Dude- my 1986/87 Ranger is a total pos. 2.0 with the weird asian 5 speed. Gets v8 mpg's while wheezing slowly along. I only keep it for extremely sentimental reasons. I drove a 2.2 s10 with an auto and it was nearly as gutless as the ranger but at least gets better mpg's.
I have little regard for the Ranger line of "trucks". Not a fan of the S10, but it was at least available with a decent engine (4.3).

Ah, a 302 and T5 would make it very nice. My brother had a 2.2 Auto S10 that was a real dog compared to mine with a T5, despite mine being heavier with it's extended cab. My S10 felt quicker than my roommate's Ranger FX4 with a 3.0 Auto.

An S10 with the 4.3 Vortech is almost "fast" in my book.
I'm not really "brand loyal"... I think defferent manufacturers make decent ones and crappy ones. But to me the Ranger is honestly the last "truck" I'd ever actually go out and spend my money buying. For lil cheapo trucks I think the classic Datsuns and 'Yota's were the best!
My 2.0 Ranger when running right was only getting mileage in the teens. And man, its as slow as an air-cooled VW.

My plan for the ranger is to leave it looking like a tattered old beater farm truck, which it is... But to have at least a healthy 300 horses under the hood for the fun of it.

rangers always got crap MPG it seemed.. my dad had that 4 cylinder in an 02 and then bought an 06 with a 4.0.. and his 4.0 got the same mileage as his 4 cylinder did...

Saw this ad on CL and thought of this thread.

No idea if you'd be interested in it, or how far you are from Atlanta, but thought I'd share it just in case!

Now that I've figured out what your user name is, I'll have to go look and find them.

No worries though, I won't bid against you.

LOL nice!
I saw Dredman was bidding on a nice midsize conventional in TX but last I saw it was getting pricey and he'd been outbid by "great again 17".
