Hey, sorry I missed that you messaged me! If it's not too late, to get the bus to be a House on Wheels, it has to be less than 18,000 lbs, and have no passenger seats (you can put them back in after). As to the CDL, if it's registered as a House on Wheels, then no because it's a passenger vehicle, but you do need the Air Brake endorsement in NYS. If you find a bus with hydraulic brakes, then you'd be fine with a regular class D license.

    Hello,

I am repetitively new to the forum and I noticed that you are from NY (Im in Albany) I will be buying a bus very soon and i noticed you had posted that you registered yours as a house on wheels. I cant seem to find any information of the requirements for this. Also I've been trying to figure out the air brake situation here in NY. Do I need a CDL to drive a H/WH class vehicle that has air brakes. I will really appreciate any input you have. I dont want to get stuck with a bus that I cant Register.

    Thank you,
