Hey you seem to be one of the most knowledgeable people on this forum so without being an inconvenience I was wondering if you had any quick tips for someone trying to buy a short bus in the NY area. I've mostly been browsing Don Brown's bus sales because they're not too far and seem to have experience in the field but I can't tell which engines/chassis' are best and I also have to research to see which I can drive without a CDL(just seems like a hassle and unnecessary). Thanks

"Sounds like you've priced 11ga square tubing.
What about 14ga? I think it would be sufficient.
I don't know about the round vs square... I don't think it matters as long as you're willing to make it work. Square would be easier to work with I think.
I'm also really leaning towards doing a roof raise but can't seem to find much help these days... "

    Hey EastCoast,

I'd definitely love to come out your way and help work on the bus (to develop my skill set for when I'm able to purchase mine)

I'm having to prep to move from my current apt to a rent house (trying to find an affordable one near Tampa)

So - in a couple weeks I should be free to help (my days off right now are Sundays and Mondays) Would you be interested in some help on one of those days?

Hey, EastCoast - if you head up 77 to pick up that refrigerator from SuperDave, let me know when you might be coming through Hillsville (just into VA). It would be fun to buy you lunch.

How do I start a new thread?
Probably a dumb question but my comp. skills are limited? I have tried many times to find the thread starter and I hate starting other questions in someone else's thread's?

Hi there! I'm buying a bus in KY and I need to drive it back to Phoenix AZ. What did you do for insurance? I'm at a loss to figure out that out.

hey question Iv been stalking this abandoned school bus for a bit, finally found the number for the people who own the lot its at, got a hold of the guy today now ultimately this probably will not fit most everything that I want except for the "its a bus" part but considering price and my current situation could be an epic blessing in disguise. The guy said he thinks its a 65 or 66 with an international V8 Gas engine. " yes I know I want diesel" its an automatic trans, been sitting for atleast 6 years, seats are out and he's been using it for storage He said when he parked it, it had still been running and he will attempt to help get it running again to move it Asking price $300 so I will go see it tomorrow get more info on it and show you some pics but considering all i got to work with right now is $1800 and its in casselberry figure it might be worth it at least to get free of rent. will probably need something else for the travel I wanna do but as an in between home maybe perfect?

Nice!...your absolutely right, the VWs have gone way up, I had three splits, one 70s and a cpl Vamagons, never paid much for any of those, except an 82 diesel westy...6k ..but now I'm driving a Dodge, but she's been good ☺ so far. Can't wait to get a bus, and most likely will never be able to afford another split bus again either, can't justify the $ for them now...so you think a classic over a crown? Just don't want to buy a crown and have it break down and not be able to find parts...Thx DL
