The best way to attach wood to the outside of your bus is to use self clinching nuts. These create a clinch on the sheet and resist being pulled out by vibration. I have , for reasons of budget screwed directly to the sheet metal. It works but doesn't last. Eventually your fasteners beging to loosen up.

Hello. Newbie here. I bought a 7 window, 2004 International in August 2017. I am living in it and building it at the same time. I am so excited, happy, content, intimidated & totally overwhelmed all at once. 😳 I will have tons of questions as I go.

Example; How do I install a 1x12 on the outside of Ivy? I want to run wood along the sides in between the black stripes. Do the screws need to go all the way through the wall with a nut and bolt or can I just screw it on? Think I need to use washers? What about glue?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions. I will post pictures when I can figure out how to use the site.
