Need best chair for the desk area that doesn't move
The kitchen counter I will build will be elongated to work as a desk. I need a desk chair for my desk area but worry about them rolling around all over the place as I drive. Any thoughts on chairs that don't move around or configuring it so that it can stay put while I'm driving but moveable otherwise?

Hi… had the same question at one point. I have a drawing table that needed a seat that wouldn't end up smashed against the back of the bus when I stomped on the accelerator (yes that's a joke) but wouldn't end up in the doorwell steps when I hit the brakes (not a joke). I hit upon a great solution for my application… I am using an old piano bench that I found at a local Goodwill-type of store! It is stable, has storage, and tucks under my drawing table in such a way that it won't walk out and attack me when I go over bumps. I though about running a bungee cord around it if it needed. don't need to. paid $10… great condition, put a seat pad on it, perfect height. Hope that helps!

I use a long rubber wire tie (think rubber-coated bendy thing) from Home Depot to secure mine. The usually come in a 2-pack, and the really longs ones are black or green. Dinged the hell out of my fridge before realizing my chair needed to be strapped. I good bungy works OK too.

I'm thinking about using suspended swing out bar stools, like those sold at Swing Bar Stools | Suspended Seating | Seating Innovations
