Building propane tank under bus storage

Yet another question - this time about mounting propane tanks. I have been reading (trolling ) this forum for about a year and I remember seeing one conversion where they showed up close how they made a box to hold two 20lb tanks underneath that was easy to remove the tanks for filling. I have just spent the last week trying to find that conversion so I could refresh myself and start building one for my bus. Does anyone know which conversion that might be or if you have a design yourself that you would be willing to share that would be great! Thanks!

Your design should be straight forward. I think a lot depends on what material your going to use. I plan on using angle iron and probably weld in some expanded sheet metal in the bottom. The reason for this is you need to have it open on the bottom. Propane is 1.5 times denser than air so it likes to settle to the bottom. If its open it has a way to escape so it cant collect and wont go boom.

Again how you mount it to the bus may influence your material you use, good luck let other know how you did yours.... pics pics pics.

mine is a box steel frame out of angle iron, then wood sides and bottom, 2 20lb propane fit behind each other, plus room for other stuff, I have to go to check my thread and see what pics of it I think I just show the start , and if not to many ill post some more.

I think we need to start doing more documentation on how we do things. Double posting somethings may help... like LP Lockers, Dinette tables, etc. While you might have it in a build thread, putting it in a thread dedicated to a specific subject and contributed to by other would make it so much easier for those who go looking for info.

Lorna,

Like your AC post.

Yes, like that. It allows anyone to look at several versions of doing the same thing. Much easier to figure what way would work best since there is more than one way to do most anything.

Not sure what it would take to get a major section put up but maybe a "how to build" section
