Re: Chandlers skoolie
I've got camper plates on it. I know I don't need my CDL to drive it anymore at this point. My point was that I should be a relatively low risk to the insurance company because I've got a ton of...

Wow that paint job looks great. Nice job! Are you planning on doing rubrails a different color for accent, or leaving it all green?

Re: Chandlers skoolie
Good luck with it, but I'm 27 and I've held my class B CDL for 8 years, and I'm paying about $1200 a year for insurance on my bus.

Re: First Timer, 92 Wayne 7.3
What will you do for the dozens of seams, laps, and joints you can't reach with a blaster, or apply paint to? If you can't do all, why do any?

I might agree with your theory if...

Re: First Timer, 92 Wayne 7.3
I'd definitely recommend painting the undercarriage at this point. It is in such great condition it will require very little prep work. When I get a chance I'll take a pic of my mini bus's...

Wow, the undercarriage on that bus looks excellent! Hardly any rust at all. I'm jealous. Just FYI: Wayne went out of business in 1995. Good luck with it!

You can try Progressive Commercial for your insurance.

I know that a bunch of people on these forums have said they have gotten dropped by Progressive...

Re: Our Second Bus
It's better to park it over gravel or pavement anyway. Park it over grass and you're asking for a rusty undercarriage. The moisture from the grass will rust things right out. I learned this the...

Here's what the wheels looked like before on that bus:

It's amazing what a little paint and tire shine can do!

Re: Jared's Wayne Chevy
Jared,
You should paint up your wheels like I did on this bus:

Get a wire brush attachment for your drill and strip off any rust, then...

Re: Chandlers skoolie
Ok, this is all starting to make more sense now. Perhaps it's the regular Progressive division that is dropping these school bus camper conversions because they shouldn't be insuring them to begin...

Re: Chandlers skoolie
I told them the same thing you did, that it was a school bus camper conversion, with seats removed, and would be registered as a camper. It is not registered or insured as a commercial vehicle. I...

Re: Chandlers skoolie
Consider yourself very lucky. I'm paying $1290 a year for mine with Progressive Commercial, and that's with my CDL discount... I know someone else who pays $1200 for his bus with Progressive, with...

Re: AAA dropped a bomb on me today.
I've got the AAA Plus RV coverage, and it has worked very well for me on two occasions. I guess it all depends on what AAA motor club you are dealing with. Both times I got towed, the bill was over...

Re: Chandlers skoolie
Nice bus. Thanks for the pix and video. In case you are interested... you can tell from the V asset # on the front of the hood that the bus was originally a Vancom bus. Vancom was bought out by...
