Bolting solar panels to rails through roof?

Hi all,

Just wondering, do folks use self tapping screws, or drill through roof support beams and lock them into place with nuts on the interior side of the roof?

Not sure about raising theroof. I will peel the first panel back at the front of the bus to see what type of insulation is iin the front. Bluebird is adamant its wool not fiberglass, well see.
