On my 1978 Chevy crew cab one-ton dually, I removed the 454 gas hog and put in a 6-cylinder turbocharged Perkins diesel. The Perkins manual clealy said that 20 feet or more of exhaust pipe required...

I have located a number with a bunch of letters mixed in on top of the frame under the firewall. It has no resemblance to the VIN number. Still looking.
