Re: Newbie questions about my build!

Back to the toilet thing...I agree with Nat. The bucket toilet thing might seem gross at first, but check out the Humanure website, or some of the Tiny House websites, and they are becoming really...

Re: Foam mattress material for beds?

I agree that foam can be really hot, but I don't know what alternative there is when you have to be able to cut it to a custom size. Our local Habitat ReStore gets foam from a local factory that...

Re: Bathroom Dimensions

I have a toilet room but not a shower. My toilet is a homemade composting one. I wanted to use the least amount of space as possible, so after measuring my toilet and my bod, I made the room 23"...

Re: Simple way to plug in?

It sounds like it's not that huge of a deal after all if you guys have used power strips. I googled things like "can you use a power strip with a mini fridge" and "can you use an extension cord with...

Simple way to plug in?

My bus doesn't have an RV type electrical system; up until now I've just run an extension cord out the window for the few things I have that need power, like a lamp, fan, single burner hot plate. ...

Re: My New Bus!

That's exactly why I got a bus instead of a prefab motorhome. My husband went to our local RV store open house last weekend and looked in all the RVs. A lot of them are really cool, but so matchy...

Re: What kind of milleage do you get?

I get about 8 mph, diesel short bus. My tank only holds about 20 gallons so I start getting nervous if I've been driving a couple hours and don't see a gas station. I don't know if I could ever...

Re: My New Bus!

My bus has been in storage all winter and I'm really jonesin' to go get it! It's still too snowy and muddy at the storage place to deal with putting the batteries back into it and all that, so I'll...

Re: My bus made the paper!

I liked the pics of the inside you posted earlier. I'd love to see what it looks like all set up like a store!

Re: My New Bus!

The outside still looks like it does in my profile pic; it was like this when I bought it. It's painted silver with the rub rails, grille and bumper painted red. But next month I'm going to take it...

Re: How to tow a car AND a boat?

Or you could just get an inflatable boat and stuff it in the trunk of the car.

Re: Paint & Primer in One Review

Is that Behr Paint & Primer latex or oil based? Do you think it's better than the Rustoleum or about the same? One of these days I'm going to paint the outside of my bus which is currently silver...

Beautiful bus! I love the paint job on the outside, and the inside looks really homey and comfortable. Nice craftsmanship.

Re: Mesh ceiling

I really don't think it seems smaller. When I was looking at regular RVs, it seemed to me that elbow room was a big factor in how big the space seemed. Like if it has a lot of cabinets up high so...

Re: Mesh ceiling

I did the ceiling this weekend and it turned out pretty cool. I used a combination of Liquid Nails and hot glue; we'll see how it holds up. The Liquid Nails says it works in temperatures up to 180....

Re: Twin Bus - '91 Carpenter w/ 7.3L International

I think my bus is the exact same kind as yours, same size, except mine is a '92. And your upholstery looks almost exactly the same as mine, too! I didn't see this thread until today. Nice bus!

Re: Mesh ceiling

I never thought about covering it to make it cooler. Living in Wisconsin, I'm usually thinking in terms of insulating against the cold, but it really gets blasted hot in there. Covering the ceiling...

Mesh ceiling

What's the purpose of having part of the ceiling made of mesh type holey metal and the rest solid metal? My bus has the mesh stuff in the front about five feet. I don't particularly like the look...

Re: My New Bus!

Here are a couple more pics of the back. I made the beds like couches, they don't fold out or anything. Everybody in my family is smallish and can easily sleep on a normal couch, so I made the...

Re: My New Bus!

I decided to put the sink outside the bathroom to make it more handy for the kitchen, so only the toilet is inside the little room. The "pipe" behind the toilet is fake plumbing; I put a box above...

Re: My New Bus!

I'm in Sheboygan. The people we bought the bus from were in Wittenberg, NW of Green Bay.

I would love more "gingerbread"...I was trying to think if a way to cut a wood arch thing to put in front...
