Re: Approaches to underside storage?

I bought a bunch of sheet metal, angle iron and square tubing, thinking it would be cheaper to make my own storage bins than buy existing ones (as easy as that would be).... I still haven't gotten...

Re: Brake repair for DIYer, winter driving suggestions?

UPDATE

I finally got around to replacing the e-brake hydraulic line and the rear brake line.... The bus was strapped around a tree uphill so "just in case".... It didn't budge, obviously. The rear...

I have a 36 footer that uses a woodstove in the mid section to heat during the winter.... We've been getting down to -11 F and so here in Upstate NY.... I noticed some problems with the woodstove...

Re: Brake repair for DIYer, winter driving suggestions?

I like the chain and tree idea... I actually have two heavy duty truck straps that worked well before pulling the bus out of a muddy yard once.... Feeling relieved.

I am thinking it is better to...

Re: Brake repair for DIYer, winter driving suggestions?

My bigger concern is the e-brake line. The brake springs are engaged by default (for safety) and if I get the reservoir filled with ATF, how much might I need? The reservoir is about a half gallon...

Re: 1997 Ford B-800 brake line repair

I couldn't quite make heads or tails of what was being said (I'm more of a visual guy), so I'm opting to buy the service manuals for the Ford B-800..... Found on Ebay for $30 .

I can't seem to...

Re: 1997 Ford B-800 brake line repair

With the new diagnosis of parking brake failure, I was curious whether the parking brake lever does anything with the transmission since there is no "Park" on the shifter. It gets left into 'Neutral'...

Throttle adjustment?

I was told when I bought my Ford B-800 from the used truck dealer that a school bus usually has a modified system so it can only go up to about 60mph (or the throttle is otherwise limited). Going up...

Re: 1997 Ford B-800 brake line repair

Turns out the leaky line wasn't the rear brakes at all but the emergency brake. The leaky fluid is red (ATF), not brake fluid, and from a 1/2 inch line, not a 5/16 (or 1/4") typical brake line (or...

Re: 1997 Ford B-800 brake line repair

Actually I was just brainstorming and saying what was on my mind (so it wasn't practical, so what) and otherwise was just looking for practical ideas on who to talk to for parts/help. I have plenty...

1997 Ford B-800 brake line repair

So I drove my 36 footer (Ford B-800 body) 250 miles on failing rear brakes, and I got it there fairly ok, but now that I've let it sit for a month and moved it a second time, I noticed the brake line...

Re: Strategies for northeastern winters

The woodstove is pretty big - 24 x 24 x 24.... and is lined with 2 inch firebrick, for radiant heat. My main concern was minimizing heat loss. Would thick blankets on the roof help from above? I...

Mounting/securing solar panels on roof

It's the starting batteries that are draining..... But then again I didn't turn the bus on for 3 months.

If I'm using the deep cycle batteries for the lights, then wouldn't I need to wire the...
