Are you sure its the glow plug light? Sounds more like a brake issue. Do you have air brakes? Or "regular" hydraulic brakes?
If you have air brakes, there should be two psi gauges on the dash....

Also, fwiw, the Forest Service or BLM local office is almost always extremely helpful. Just ask about "dispersed camping" and they'll usually give you maps and tips.
