Battery tray

Is there a trick to getting the battery tray out? I released the locking handles but the tray won't slide a bit. I'm gonna use some penetrating oil to try to loosen it up but am I missing something...

I could only hit 65 mph on the ride home with my purchase. It seemed that if I kept the hammer down it would overheat and I would have to was it back to 55 for the light to go out.
