Actually the plan was to place it in a sliding mount. That way I can move it in line with a window and the drop the blacked out window and use it out side of the bus as well as inside.

all of our tents over here in friendly Afghanistan have a similar set up. we also put a layer of sand bags on the conexes we use for offices it absorbs the heat during the day and bleeds it off...

well if you want to make it flush with the roof why not add a deck? i know several bus owners on this site have done it. then you could have a ladder to the deck and then get in to the tub from there.
