When a class A makes sense no more.

We bought it with 11,000 miles on it, though it was 30+ years old.
One or two trips per year from Boston to Vermont in all that time.
32 feet of 454 powered goodness that ticked all our boxes, but...

The Mrs and I looked into a skoolie 20 years ago.
It did not fit our needs then, as we still reported for slave duty each day and lived in a "HOA-polluted-domicile."
In 2012, we...

The construction style on that thing is a nightmare, honestly.
Just having dew TOUCH that chip/sawdust/glue wood turns it to mush.
(It will get wet, too.)

The engine is decent, 6.9 is what it...

Re: GMC 6.2 swap

There was a bit...but for the most part, people confuse the 6.2 with the 5.7 Olds motor in the cars. They think it is a bored out version of one of those.
(It has nothing to do with the 5.7 as we...

Re: mounting generator inside bus?

I would be worried about having the exhaust dump out the bottom.

WOuld it not be safer to run a pipe up the side and have the exit above the bus?
Fumes can build up and kill you...

Re: 5.9b or 6bt tune and performance

We did with the 12 valve 4 and 6B's in the bread fleet.

What we found was...unless you adjusted the trans (and the procedure I am not familiar with, it was done by the shop we used for Allison...

Re: 5.9b or 6bt tune and performance

Re: Make sure my thinking is not flawed

Tranny fluid can lose its lubricity in one mile on a hard pull.
Literally, start a transmission that is perfect with hot fluid, burn it on a hard pull...and one mile later it is toast.

100%...

Re: 5.9b or 6bt tune and performance

Keep in mind that playing with the gov springs will not matter with an auto behind it.
The plate will make a huge difference, but you can't top every hill at 45-50PSI out of the turbo all day long...
