Re: 1978 Bluebird

Better than a gas job no matter which way you slice it.... Personally I think they're nice and smooth with great power delivery. Kinda loud i guess - but less clatter than a cat. I guess you have...

Re: 1970 International Superior

So it's time to re-do the interior of the international... after lessons learned and a few years of living in the bus i finally have a realistic plan to make the permanent interior. I'm going to...

Re: new member 1965 chevy

Im just a bit jealous i haven't had my old bus on the road since i drove it down to Coombs from Horne Lake a few years ago. I'm hoping 2014 will allow me a very modest Vancouver Island skoolie tour.

Re: Hello, from B.C. Canada

Good job on getting the boat... too many derelict boats already sitting around the island. I bet she'll make an excellent gulf islands cruiser. Hope to see some more progress on 'pit stop'. I...

Re: Sending a Stove Flue out the Window

In my experience there are a couple of disadvantages to this... the two 90 degree bends in the flue tend to reduce the velocity of the exhaust causing problems upon lighting. It's tougher to get the...

Re: 1954 GMC Transit Busses, 2, Aluminum, Tacoma WA

Sorry my working life decided to go a bit sideways for a bit soon after i posted the last message and conspired against me getting on the net for the last while. Did you sell those things yet?

Do you have any pictures? I'd be interested if you could deliver the best one loaded with the parts to Vancouver Island.

Re: Looking to buy and for advice

Looks like a tight little unit. Great size, should be a nice ride with that turbo diesel. RV reg is great, it saves an inspection and at least in canada, it exempts the bus from all the usual CV...

Re: Turtle Royale

I see you also fell for the 'aesthetic perfection' of the superior/international combination.... that diesel should make for a really reliable bus. Nice length, too. Are you leaving the metal...

Re: 1970 International Superior

Thanks, it would have been nice to use the yellow on the floor due to it's durability, but i guess hindsight is 20/20.

Re: 1985 Chevy P30 SchoolBus Conversion

Skoolie stigma... it can be tough. At least up here in the frozen wastes of the north, the worst you get is the whole "dirty hippie" thing. Why not just abandon that capitalist gig while you have...

Re: Ford E350 Shuttle Bus?

Are you talking about a fiberglass shell unit as opposed to a metal 'handi-van' style? I've seen some video and photos of one of the glass units being done. Looks a little busier in terms of...

Re: 1970 International Superior

Yes, I have to agree that plywood isn't all bad, i was thinking very locally. Here in BC it stands true, though, most plywood will only last a few years in close contact with metal. Moisture...

Re: Any floor insulation advice?

Eek i'd stay away from any vapor barriers. Just a way to trap moisture and speed up rust.

Re: 1970 International Superior

I got really lucky with the cedar. There's quite a few types, this stuff happens to be Western Red Cedar. It came from a local mill just down the road from where i was working. Fifty bucks got me...

Re: New Member - Okla area - 1986 Chevy G30 Shortie

Don't forget that ol' van nose stickin out the front is the weakest part of your bus... you're gonna want to protect that thing with a good front bumper, preferably with some big spikes.

Bus Umbrella

How to get a few extra weeks out of an ancient tarp. Shredded and threadbare, it needed a slope to repel water. It actually took a pretty good storm to finish it off.

Re: 1970 International Superior

When we bled the brakes tons of gross goopy stuff came through the bleeders. It took a few jugs of fluid before it came totally clear. The brakes will have to see some new parts im sure, the...

1970 International Superior

My bus is a 1970 Superior on an International Loadstar 1600 chassis. It measures about 21 feet long overall which i think qualifies it for short-bus status. Power is provided by the venerable 304...
