I'm not a painter, but my understanding of the different naps is the longer nap is for rougher surfaces. Unless your roof is really rough I would think the 3/8 would be plenty.

I also have "fly by wire" this set up attaches to the pedal. The guy who gave me the plans tried to hook to the engine on his MCI, but couldn't overcome the return spring back there.

I have complete plans to add cruise using late model GM truck cruise to anything. All parts bought for about $150. Do some google searches it's quite common.

I have plans to build a cruise control using late model GM actuator, it uses a stepper motor not vacuum. I have all of the parts gathered up and only have about a couple of hundred in it....
