Re: 95 IH skoolie........

After the price of the rebuild kit, you will have to add in a new head. One of the valves wasnt very nice to the head. It blows antifreeze out the tailpipe faster than you can put it in.

The...

Re: 95 IH skoolie........

I do like the suggestion on the paint job. However, I'll have to do it very creatively. Since its a village ordinance. I live in a small village of 300 people. Most of them are older and dont...

Re: Bus steering wheels..

Do what? :o I dont think that is correct. The number of turns required to go from lock to lock is independent of the size of the steering wheel. You can even remove the steering wheel all...

Re: What's the minimum size generator I need to run a Carrier Ai

I run 2 roof top ac units off of a 4kw generator. When they kick on, there is a momentary drag on the genny then it recovers and goes on. I also run a 2000 watt inverter with it as well.

HTH.

Re: Look at what I spotted today....

Looks like a Dana 70 that a friend of mine has under his IH 1 ton. If you look really close, it seems to have a removable front diff cover.

I'll echo the "STAY AWAY" comment on china gennies.

Re: I need help installing my roof vent!!!!!!

Is there a way to trim the depth off of the vertical pieces? I had to trim about 1 1/2" off of a carrier mounting plate for my roof top ac unit to get it to work. I would mount the vent on the roof...

Re: Stupid question ???

There may be a small roll pin that is pressed in there keeping it from coming apart. I have seen this on a few trucks that I have worked on.

Re: 1978 Bluebird bus conversion project for sale

You'll have to loof for the vehicles that carried the 454 in them, ie the surburbans, big pickups, larger 1 ton vans. Those kind would possibly have them in them.

In Illinois, any lights above 48" from the ground have to be covered while on the roadway.

Re: 1978 Bluebird bus conversion project for sale

Might as well since you arent trying to re-create the wheel. All you are doing is installing a newer tbi on an older engine. Code readers are easy to find and you can even hook up a laptop to it...

Sounds like someone needs to go junyarding and look for a 454 with the tbi and computer. Probably be alot cheaper than AFI.

Re: Air Conditioner Amperage Draw

My 2002 carrier 13,500 btu AC unit has 12.8 amps draw on the label. However, when I check it with an amp meter, its drawing 13.2. Even my older Dometic AC unit only draws 15.8 amps when running. ...

Re: How did you guys install your roof vents ?

When I cut the hole in my roof for the AC unit I used a drill to mark the corners and tin snips to cut the sheetmetal with. They cut real easy and no noise or mess.
