Re: The Brown Crown
The carpet installation went a lot easier that it looks. I bought a couple of expandable shower curtain rods and used a 1x4 along with that to hold the carpet up on the ceiling during the drying process. I cut the carpet panels to match the measurement of the roof panels which were 34 inches wide by about 7 1/2 feet from side to side. Starting on one side, I applied about 5 to 6 rows of glue and then propped up the carpet with the rod. As I moved further to complete each section, I just moved the rod and wood support as I glued. Each carpet section only took about 3/4 of a hour to apply and the liquid nails was dry enough to hold on its own.
I used a thin indoor/outdoor type of carpeting, so if you go with something thicker, it can be successfully glued, but the process will take much longer.

Re: The Brown Crown
I would like to see a close-up of that set up-still I'm glad I have the bus that I have because of the low miles and newer frame. But that crown with the dual axles is my favorite looking bus of all of them.

Re: The Brown Crown
Yankeflyer...I would have to agree with those 10 Wheelers being nice looking. Used to drive a 1964 model for Kern High School District many years before. My Crown is also from Kern High and I drove it too while it was in regular school service. I was lucky enough to get it when it went up for auction because I knew its history and its service record.

Re: The Brown Crown
Did a little bit of cosmetic work this weekend. I finished putting up the roof bows on the carpet and also hung a privacy curtain between the bedroom and the galley. I would have prefered a door, but with the curved roof line it would not have looked good cut on top and an accordian door would have had a frame on top to duck under. When the curtain is open, it fits nicely behind the section of wall that juts out about 6 or 7 inches in the hallway that is the shower in the bathroom on the other side.
Also took down the bathroom door and gave it a nice blue paint job. There is always something to do on a Skoolie

Re: The Brown Crown
Some early construction in the bedroom and in the galley. The vent for the stove hood was the first hole that was cut in the roof...I'm sure the rest of you went through that...pretty scary for me, but luckily, it turned out ok

These two pictures are of the exterior window coverings. I applied insullation between the windows and the new aluminum.

Like the others have said -- pictures -- they make for such great inspiration for everyone.

Re: The Brown Crown
If I was going to build a flat nose it would be a Crown!
I like your layout, everything flows in a natural order and it looks like it would be easy to live in. I also like the use of the carpet on the ceiling and the other odd places, it gives it a cozy look.
Take care,
Den

Re: The Brown Crown
Worked on placing some trim in the bedroom area recently. The round conturs of the Crown create some problems with making things look finished and lined up. So I took some 1x4's and wrapped them in carpet that matches the celing and then formed some pieces to make the transition between the walls and the roof line look more finished. Got the right side done, but still need to finish the left. The first picture shows both sides of the rear interior walls. Slowly but surely, things are getting better.
I saved the rear seat cushion as a headboard... it's the only thing left inside from my skoolie's days transporting kids Still got some window trim to finish back there too, but that is for another weekend and the next pay day for the materials

I really like the carpet. Nice color, looks warm. Keep sending the pics I love em.
What are you keeping the carpet up with. Also what size is your shower. I want to have as small a bathroom as possible, but still be able to take a shower.

Forget about answering the carpet question. I looked back at some old posts and you had already given the info.

Love that roof carpet. I really toyed with that idea on this conversion. I think I will do it on the next one after seeing and reading about it. Love it.

Thanks bike...it really does go on easy and not too expensive either...you can get a good quality grade at Home Depot for not too much...the whole ceiling was about $100. It helps with the insullation too because the roof tends to get pretty hot in the summer.

Jackie...I used a 30 inch shower pan...I know space can be a problem, but I also wanted to be able to shower and enjoy it

Re: The Brown Crown
Finally got around to putting paneling around the refrigerator enclosure this weekend. Certainly not my best work so don't look too close...at least the fridge will hide my mistakes
