Another PA Newbie

hi i started this profile for me and my husband to share jointly. we're picking up our bus this afternoon, and we've just started lurking around on the forum to get the know-how we need for this admittedly new idea we just had and decided to drop $3K on. i've already got some questions, but i figured it was best to introduce us first. i'm colleen, he's nate. glad to learn from everyone's vast combined experience.

haha! well, i was HOPING to have them, actually. we went to do the title transfer just yesterday afternoon, and the guy from the scrap yard assured us we didn't need a CDL to drive it home. turns out, you do in this state. wah wah. so i've gotta get my dad - a long-haul trucker - to come out with us this weekend to get it. we were all set to post a pic of the two of us with the bus on facebook to announce to everyone that we've gone nuts, but it's still an open secret so far ;) once we get her this weekend, i'll be sure to post a pic

Not just a CDL but a CDL with a passenger endorsement is required if you are going to be totally legal.

Personally I would just drive it home and hope no one stops you. Most cops won't bother a bus if it is not being driven obnoxiously.

If you do get stopped you could try explaining you are on the way to RV status.

here is a hint:

play ignorant and drive it home during the day when school is in session they wont even look at you

make sure there is some kind of tag on it though

I was kinda prodding towards doing just that, but I know Nate's pretty skittish about being pulled over and losing his license, since he drives a lot for his job. Turns out my dad is on vacation for the next week, so unless we can find a friend with a CDL sooner than that, he might reconsider. We do have the new tag and temporary registration, so there's that, at least.

he said it was pretty good, all things considered. he was a little nervous about passing a kid on a bike who apparently didn't realize that he ought to stay a little closer to the white line ;)

For $3K it looks like you got a screaming good deal!

If you PM your e-mail and VIN# I may be able to getthe build sheet for your bus.
