We made a canoe rack...

Hey there, I posted some photos of our canoe rack on our blog if any of you are interested...

www.bluedaisyiii.blogspot.com

Just scroll down for the photos. We've now driven with it this way for a few weeks and used it five or six times. We use carpet squares to ease it off and on the roof. We're minimalists so I'm sure you guys could come up with a far more beautiful one but this one cost us $40 including the cinch down ties and we're already on the road so needed it to be easy to put together. Just an idea...

Oooh I like. Will probably add that to ours, though we don't have a canoe yet.

Re: We made a canoe rack...

We were in the Sportsmans' Warehouse up in Albuquerque on Sunday. We looked at a 2 person inflatable pontoon. It was under $500. It looked neat. the pontoons were inflatable so they could be deflated. The metal frame was full of pull-pins so that was apparently able to be broken down to a more compact space. Looked great to us. We used to carry a small 13 ft fiberglass canoe on top of our mustang back when we first got married (it was my wedding present to David... yes we were "different"). Finally sold it because of the kids... they didn't like it and it was hard to go canoeing and leave the 5 yo kids on the shoreline. That was almost 20 years ago and we still miss the canoe. We may opt for the inflatable at some point.
