Remove the floor?
Like most of the newbies here I asked why all of the insistence on taking up the floor, well I discovered how important it is, unless your lucky enough to have a bus from Cali or Arizona, you probably want to have a look at whats underneath,
This is what you will find under a Northeast bus's floor

Yup- doing it the easy way is always going to leave the nasty stuff hidden.
The worst of mine is under the roof around the cracked and leaky emergency hatches.
Ospho and a wire wheel are your friend. Keep up the good work!

Thank you CB, I looked into Corroseal which recommends application at 45 degrees and above but the Ospho allows down to 36 degrees, which is a help here, I'll have to wait till the end of the week but the temps will rise a little by then. I like the description of the Ospho better too

I use ospho then Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer. Then a topcoat.
I'm planning to apply undercoating to the wheel wells both topside and below to help with some noise.

Help guys, I bought a welder and I can't find a quad breaker for Cutler-Hammer 2 20a on the outside with a double 20a in the middle for 220. Its the older style with the metal locking clips Any ideas? Thx

I would like to replace two 20A breakers with a quad breaker which will give me a 220v 20A and two 110v 20A breakers to replace the original two. This is the style breaker that I have it's Cutler-Hammer

If you cant find the breaker you need just shoot down to your local electrical supply house and they'll either have it or order it for you. If you're IBEW though make sure you take your whole crew to lunch on the way while you're still on the clock.

Usually what happens is they have a clip that goes between 2 breakers
which are side by side which accesses two legs of power giving you a 220
volt breaker. Then you buy 2 more breakers like you've all ready got for
the 120 volt circuits. Unless of course you are out of space in the box and
are looking for half width breakers which could be a problem. I've seen CH
breakers at both Home Depot and Lowes. You could also check Graybar and
Grainger for the parts you need. For welding I would recommend 10/3 w/ground wire backed up with a 30 amp breaker. The welder probably calls
for 25 amps @ 220 which I have found if you go over kill slightly you have
a better welding experience. Purer power makes for purer welds.

thanks guys. I totally forgot that I added a double 30amp breaker last year to feed my generator through, so I can run the welder on that breaker which is unused except for when power goes out.
I do have an observation though, if there was a steel shortage back in '03 I know why, it was all used for the ridiculous number of screws used to hold the plywood floor in the Neb down :0

Oh, I feel for you. The screws they used to hold the wood down on the floor of our bus were massive as well as numerous.
They've been on my mind, since I'm looking at pulling up the last bit of original flooring soon ... :P
