Roof Rack
Hi all- Wanted to share new roof rack on the Freebyrd. It is 8' x 9' and can be accessed via the emergency exit on the roof. It is made of 1 x 2 stock (legs and main part of the frame), as well as 1 x 1 for the top rail. Expanded metal and flat stock are also used for the base portion of the rack and the actual feet, respectively. I used 4 in bolts to go through the roof. They were a tad bit long, but I am able to use the extra threading inside.
My father, Forest Road Welding in Greenfield, NH was the welder and brains behind the operation. If you are in the area and interested in learning more about how to get one of these for your skoolie email me or respond to this posting. We nailed it as it is almost perfectly square (despite the large footprint area, it is only 1/16th of an inch off....amazing!).
Be well,
The BYRD
