A gas engine with a built in inverter that converts the stored chemical energy in fuel to 120 Volt or 240 Volt electrical power. In electricity generation, an electrical generator is a device that converts kinetic energy to electrical energy, generally using electromagnetic induction.

Alternator

Main Article: Alternator A Alternator, is a Generator that generally produces AC Power, and are in use in Cars, Buses, Trucks, Hydroelectric Dam's, Generating Stations and etc. Usually people think of Alternators being as in cars, and other viechles, but they are in use at Hydroelectric Dam's.

Dynamo (Discontinued)

A Dynamo, which was discontinued in the Early 1920's, is the opposite of a Alternator. A Dynamo produces DC (Direct Current) Power. Dynamo's were discontinued in the Early 1920's.
