Adhesive at ceiling panel seams

Alright, so I'm dealing with an issue I've not seen documented much - my ceiling panels are glued together at the seams. For most skoolie folks this wouldn't be an issue, since most just tear the ceiling down and replace it with something else. My wife and I were planning to reuse it to save money and keep some of the original look.

Does anyone have any experience with this particular issue? My plan at the moment is to shoot some WD-40 into the seams and hope that it acts as a solvent and loosens up the adhesive.

Also try a heat gun. Most (?) adhesives become soft and gooey if you get 'em hot enough. It may be a balancing act to heat the adhesive but not scorch the paint in the process.
