my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles all homesteaded in northern BC and northern Alberta starting in the 20's - I loved hearing their stories of the obstacles they faced and the ideas they came up with to solve the problems - my mother's father came up with a one man whip saw idea to cut the boards for the floor on their cabin - a rack sticking out from a bank where logs could be dragged to by his horses, a tree over head - tie one end of a two man saw to a branch large enough to pull the saw up, with my grandfather underneath providing the cutting power on the down stroke - a brutal job with sawdust falling on him with every down stroke, mixing with his sweat - they lived on their homestead in that cabin until they passed on in their mid 80's - every time I visited I could see grampa's axe strokes in the timbers, and how he had notched the logs to fit and I had a hard time imaging how much work that must have taken - when I was young, my dad showed me how to use a broad axe and an adze - I used them enough that I know how, and how much work they are - lol

It's also a common theme in Redneck tragic opera, often accompanied by the line,
"Hey, watch this! Y'all aint gonna believe this sh1t!!!"

Only 7.3 vans I've touched were 99 and up, so I have no problem taking you at your word. There are some differences, the vans had a little larger turbo than the Fseries got. I drive a Evan but it's not a diesel I hate to admit.
ALl the same ford should have always used the electric pump it wasn't new tech or anything, makes life so much easier and much less likely to crap out than the mechanical ones and so much easier to replace.
I've gotta replace the output shaft seal on the MD3060, doesn't look like it will be hard, any advice?

Check the tone ring for movement as well. Known issue with them being loose on the shaft and causing erratic output.

PCM. I just threw money at it as thomas isn't doing the next round of unlock submissions until mid September and I leave for a 8000km trip in 10 days

I will be taking it for a shakedown run soon. Calculator says around 1800rpm @ 63mph which is exactly what I want

NICE!! so far the best way I have found to do it is to reflash a TCM with a CIN number from one that has the same engine RPM range and 6th unlocked.. a replacement TCM is the same thing.. have to make sure its the same RPM range and also same throttle type and everything should just work..

$400, seems they've gone up from the $250 price being thrown around last year. Seems they see the demand and can charge what they want.

I was referring to the labor cost at PCM. If he is getting $495 credit for the core, that means labor was $400. They said last year they were doing them for $250

This isn’t true for the Thomas Minotour short bus. I’ve done a little over 85 in it. It could do faster than that unladen, but I eased off.
Not germain to Alison I know.

Short bus is a whole different ballgame than the buses we're talking about that came with 3060's

I've seen full size Thomas buses go 80+.
Many do this as delivered from the factory.

yeah and i just 2 days ago had this discussion with a fleet dfirector who ordered 2 new Busses.. conventionals with 240 HP 6.7's and MD3060s that are greared to run 80 and the allison will only have 5 speeds.. same happens if he ordered them with allison 2000s'' only 5 gears are open.. his sales rep cant get many answers from the factory either as to why he cant run a lower ratio and have 6th open.. he wants the quick take off in first and second gears of a low ratio but being able to run fast as these busses have to traverse I-75 with a speed of 70-75 and not run the engine at its rev limiter.. but neither thomas nor bluebird will sell the bus with all 6 gears open unless it is a non-school bus.. he can buy a thomas transit with transit windows , transit seating, no school signals and it can be ordered as an activity bus and will come with all 6 gears on the 3060 operable....
