are the red/yellow light suppose to work?

My bus has the standard red/yellow in front and back, they do not come on when I hit the switch. Do the bus companys disable these when they sell? I have moved the red to the rear and yellow to the front, so it should be legal to have them working, ????

Check with your local Dept of Motor Vehicle . Don't ask a cop because they may not know but the DMV will have the latest

you can hook them up to the turn signals, brake lights, running lights, but you can not have them flash like they do on school buses
the school district I bought my bus from disconnected them and painted them black, said Ohio required them to do that

Mine are all yellow but they flash in a wig-wag pattern, that's the issue.

I move yellow to the front and red to the back, but they are disabled.

In TN you are fine, Minnesota... Dunno

Here biggest issue was NO red lights facing forward (same as NO blue lights) so I moved mine, and yes mine still work, I use them same time as the hazards

Different jurisdictions have different rules.

In WA state, if the bus is not a school bus then they need to be disabled.

I have seen some where people have put headlights, fog lights, or other clear type lights in place so they can be used for lighting up the yard. If you do something like that they need to be covered while on the road if they are up front.

So, it looks like I have three tail light mini lights arcoss the top in back, so I can convert these to 4 large high tail lights very easily. same in front, but I don't really want 4 large yellow running lights on all the time in front. Maybe I'll get a good idea somewhere.???? I would really like to have them all working as emergency flashers, but I don't know how they were disabled.

the 3 lights in the middle of the roof on the front and back have to stay as they are, they actually mean something, called ID lights, means your vehicle is over 6 and a half feet wide

Thanks, Kubla, I didn't know that. What I had in mind was splicing the larger lights into that wireing harness. If I was ambitious, I would want to hook up turn signals to the top large lights also, but that involves fishing for the right wireing.

I was wondering this as well for Texas. We will need to do something for when we make stops. Maybe just hazard lights and we could connect some of the lights to those.

Our stop sign on the side does not currently do anything which is another to-do list item. The stop sign itself is missing completely, but we may need to have something other that anyway to not break any road laws. Something like "WATCH FOR CHILDREN" would do rather than "SLOW CHILDREN" Lol
