Newbie w/a '95 Bluebird Mini-Bird (6.5 Diesel)
Hey y'all, I'm new to the site and just starting my conversion. I've been looking high and low for a manual for the bus from '95 not '97 (I know its basically the same, but there are a few relevant differences). Any help at all would be much appreciated!

I just picked up a 2000 Micro Bird and haven't been able to find any reference for it besides the operator manual. Do they exist? Thanks for any help.

some of those older busses at least the electrical diagrams for the body were posted inside the bus.. on my 86 bluebird I found a nice wiring diagram that inside the electrical access panel on the driver side of the bus.. it didnt have any engine wiring to speak of but had the circuits (including optionals) for the body wiring.. so it showed what went to which cavity on the fuse panels and what color wires went to heaters, etc...
under the hood i found vacuum line routing (that bus didnt have air brakes).. but used vacuum for the stop sign on the side and such..

trouble is most of our busses were built before much of this stuff was online.. and since school busses werent generally consumer-items, the manufacturers didnt post them online.. it was understood that a fleet manager would simply call their Sales rep and get the books they needed for their fleet service department...
I dont remember in the summer that I drove Bluebird busses to help a family friend, that every bus didnt come with a set of books.. I may have just not looked, I just dont remember them... when a school system bought new busses there was a training session on delivery with the fleet manager and the drivers who were going to be assigned the new busses.. and it was pretty much the stuff that was in the manuals and to show off "features" that may have been ordered.. this was in the mid 80s.. and it was just about the beginning of when schools started ordering A/C, so there was a set of books on the A/C if a bus had it, as they were always 3rd party installed.. bluebird didnt put it in themselves at the time..
so books may be rare.. Service shop manuals would likely be even more rare.. as only an authorized blue-bird body service company would have a set and maybe a fleet manager at a school system.. which im sure theres probably shop manuals layng around in school service shops for busses they no longer have....

Bluebird International 1991
Anyone have the service manual for Bluebird International 1991? Or any advice on removing the dash to get to clean out the blower motor?

is it a conventional style bluebird? which blower motor is clogged.. theres actually 4 of them across the front of the bus depending on the model you have and what optioned were ordered..
theres 2 in the driver's console.. (one feeds the front left heater and the second feeds the upper left defroster (there are 2 black vents by the windshield and 1 that blows on the side window..) when I tore them apart on my old bus I took out the driver seat because it made things much easier.. then it was pretty straight forward to see the screws to get the front cover off..
theres 2 blower motors in the heating unit by the door.. they were pretty easy to get to as I could reach them from behind the unit itself without tearing everything to pieces...
if your bus is a flat-nose its likely different than what im describing..

Hey,
Thanks for your reply Chris. It is a conventional style yes, and it sounds just like what your are talking about.
The one that is clogged is on the drivers side, I believe it is the front left defrost, except our bus is covered in carpet so can't see any of the screws :s

if I remember right the left front defrost got its air intake from a little flap on the outside of the bus.. it was common for rodents to get in those and buold nests.. that little flap should be open.. im assumign the motor runs but no air come out of the defroster vents? that one was the Most used fan motor on the bus.. esp if its a northern bus.. I dont have my bluebird anymore to tell you exactly where those screws are under your carpet .. I only ever had those apart once(to install A/C and clean it out) and that was a while ago..

Yup you got it. The motor sort of run's but the air coming out is absolutely rancid. Ripped some of the carpet out and can see the screws we need to remove. Thanks for the advice.

Oh yeah, that's a nest. You got clogs to clean out of your heating system and you may prefer to find some new soft heater ducts. That smell takes a long time to get out of the tubes.

depends on which side of the coils the nest is on.. Usually someone leaves the outside air flap open and something gets up in there.. (how they climb up a metal bus I'll never figure out)..
other times they get into the bus itself and find their way in the heater box and build nests in the flex tubes as ronin mentioned.. you may also be able to pop the black plastic vents off and stick a vacuum hose down the vents and see what you get..
its been a long time since I had that and the right side box all torn apart.. I had notes of how to put it all back together but they went with the bus (that had a fire)...

The bus had been sitting outside over the winter before we acquired it and we have found multiple nests on the inside, so it is possible that there are nests in the tubes as well. Haven't been able to get the panels off to get a better look though, but can see the fluff coming through one of the black plastic vents. Will definitely try sticking a vacuum down there, but I need to get in there I think. I should be trying to get beneath the panels on the left underneath where the vents are correct? There are 2 metal panels screwed down with bolts, however they seem to be hooked on in some weird way that I can't seem to figure out.

mine were hooked to where i just pulled up (if I rememebr right).. but they were also rusted at the bottom from water and salt (presumably from drivers boots in winter).. I dont remember breaking anything to take them apart but they were a tad unwilling to come apart without a little prodding

Yes, the panels are very rusty, that is a big part of the problem. Also cannot get the seat out of there which makes it difficult. Will keep trying!
Thanks again.
