Ceiling rib removal

Planing to do a sky light in my shower area. The ribs are only 2' apart. Was wanting opinions on possibly removing part of rib to do a bigger area. Of course I will use square tubing to reinforce that area just like a window in a house. Thoughts?

It's probably going to be fine. Just box it out with the tubing. If it's just part of one rib I doubt you'll compromise the integrity of the roof (that much). Have you thought about installing a wall stud under the cut rib as well, just for a little extra support?

absolutely will be 2x4 walls basically the same size bracing. Will even double up at the brace to be sure it is supported.
