Custom Cushions - LIFE SAVING Calculator and Tutorial

Skoolie Fam!
Just wanted to drop some info on this amazing cushion foam and fabric calculator, with a built in pattern / template and how-to video from Sail Rite!

https://www.fabric-calculator.com/cushions.aspx

No joke 30 minute cushions. I'm not an experienced sewer at all, but these cushions came out looking professional AF in my opinion

Here's the pattern I used. If you click "Main Menu" there are tons of calculators for cushions, pillows, curtains, etc. There are a handful of different cushion patterns, I used the 30 minute box corner cushion. Super easy, follow the directions and you'll be good as gold!

Fabric-calculator.com incase the link breaks

Highly recommended for anyone looking to make some custom cushions!!

Materials:
Ultra HD foam from Foam Factory (foambymail.com) - order as needed
Polyester FiberFill to cover the foam with - gives it that cushy feel.
Cotton Canvas from Joann - came in at $8.99/yard @ 45inches wide. I needed about 8yards for our 2 dinette seats and 4ft bench.

Thank you! We will spend a lot of time there, we both will be working almost full-time on the road.

The best part, it transitions to a dog bed!
(Or people lounge, it is only about ft long so too short for a bed)Click image for larger version

I thought I had the answer to my question of the dimensions of the dinette when you said it was only ? ft long. I plan on the same style dinette and need to know the width of the bases and the width of the gap?

Do your seat bases open for storage?

That looks really good! I'll be attempting cushions over the winter, so I bookmarked those links. Thanks for sharing!

Oh my apologies! was on mobile - When flat, the "bed" is approx. 56" (+ a little wiggle room)
Each bench is 16" deep, 22" wide (you can Barely fit 2 people on each side if we need to party)
2x2 lip on the front for the table top to rest. The gap between is just a bit over 24". The cushions lining up so perfect was really a happy accident I didn't plan for - but each cushion back is 12" high, so there you have it. perfect fit.
I used these table brackets to mount to the wall, and this heavy duty hinge for the table leg. It is SUPER sturdy, if there was enough headroom I could probably stand on it.
I can lay on the "bed" when leaning up against one side, but not fully stretched out. It is perfect for lounging in the living room, one of us can take the bed side and one can take the 4ft couch on the other side, leaning up against the back of the driver's seat.

Also, yes! The bottom of the benches open, so do the backs for a little bit of vertical storage. Bottoms fold up, backs fold down - I'll get a pic up here sooner or later - we're starting to move in this week ;)

I was going to ask about the hardware, but you beat me to it. I have about 68" to work with. so a couple more than you have. Unfortunately I have to build mine over a wheel well, but it'll work. I bought an RV dinette pole for mine. Definitely need to measure back and seat cushion for flat length to decide dimensions of the wood base.

That's fantastic looking work, BG...and a great resource you shared. Just learning about the hot knife made the whole thing worthwhile. I've bookmarked that site - thanks!

If you can saw a straight line, you can sew one! And I've seen those shower tile photos, I know you've got skills ;)

Looks great! I’ve got a Sailrite machine and second the recommendation for their learning materials. Now off to check out the fabric calculator!

Your dinette looks great! Really nice job. And thanks so much for the shared info. I will definitely be referring to it when my cushion time comes down the road a bit.

My wife's lil Janome, not sure the model #. It is a pretty nice machine but definitely a "beginner level" / nothing super fancy or industrial.
