Do I need to worry about roof skin pulling back?

We are redoing our 01 International/Bluebird. We are cutting out two windows on each side to install RV windows for better visibility. We started cutting and it looks like the roof skin is pulling up/out. Should we screw it to the interior 1x1ish steel header above the cut?

I vote yes.

Maybe hex head tappers with the weather seal, the kind used in metal roofing?

I see what you mean, it's curling. Might be from the pull-action of the sawzall?

You may wish to attach an aluminum gutter/deflector along that edge to stabilize and direct water outward.

personally I would never cut there. If you see all thee rivets in that pattern then that means that that must or could be a stress section. If you cut that top beam out Then that will not be good for the roof integrity.

Be carefull

There is a factory header (1x1ish) that I am leaving. I do want to cut out the section with all the rivets for clearance. I'm hoping screwing the skin to the header will keep that section intact.
