Front door mechanical lock

Good day all,

What are you using to lock the front door in your bus from the inside?

My bus used to have a pneumatic door, but the ram mechanism was removed by the previous owner. I'm left with a desire to make a solid door locking system and I figure someone has more creativity than I.

Currently, I am holding the two doors together with a piece of wood wedged in-between the right side door "bar" (at the top) and the frame. I'd like to use the "knob" on the left door in the same way...something wedged in there to keep it from moving(like the original ram), but easily remove-able to "unlock" the door.

Currently, I am using the emergency exit as the first entry/last exit door, and the main doors for the family and all other ins-and-outs.

I'm looking for ideas that don't involve welding or screwing into the door itself (just using the frame as the anchor point).

At some point, it would be great if I can make it unlock electronically (using an actuator and a car alarm system maybe?).

Thanks for any ideas/help!!!

(Notice the brown board in the center of the door)

I’m thinking this doesn’t meet your requirement of not screwing into (or with?) the door, however, with a Smart Home hub, the deadbolt can be locked/unlocked /checked with a phone app. Thread here.

Sorry for the instagram link, my photos were on my old phone and this is the easiest way to share. Same as above me, this doesn't fit in your no screwing request but it's worked beautifully for us.

The two handles allow us to pull it closed from the inside and lock it and the key access from outside means we just need to push the doors together to lock.

I'm thinking about reinforcing my doors and using a puck lock from the outside and inside. Using two mounting brakets both inside and out I should be able to move the lock from the outside when not in the bus to the inside when in the bus. I'll still have my wheel chair door and emergency windows for egress incase of emergency.
