"Cavernous" is an appropriate adjective for those bays.

I *think* I remember seeing a coach conversion that used part of their storage bays for sleeping quarters.....just lifted a floor hatch and dropped right in.

Chris will probably wanna drive it you know Rick.

Maybe you can hire him as crew chief, chauffeur. And if it breaks he does know what to do!

You and the missus just sit back and pet the doggies..

I continue to slowly get the dashboard figured out. I have the design of the driver side console finalized and hope to start building this weekend. I finished assembling the switch panel and wired up the switch lighting. I really like the etched rocker switches. I was also able to mount the transmission gear indicator LED on the panel as well.

Not a great pic but shows the lit up switches...

Well done sir! That is a nicely organized switch panel! Love the dash rebuild.

So I pulled the dash and gauge pod for what I hope will be the last time. I was not happy with my initial wiring job, and I decided to make a few layout changes as well.

Here is a final "bench check" of all the switch and instrument lighting. All is good with the lighting. FWIW the switch and gauge lighting (+ gauge power) is pulling ~1.8A

I also revised the dash panel (goes over the hole on the lower left of the dash). I had to reroute the parking brake air lines but I like the parking brake actuator much better on the panel than when it was on the console. On my initial drive home with the bus, I was always concerned that I might inadvertently release the brake. The silver knobs are the wipers and the small black knob is the dimmer for the gauges.

Wrap this up soon? Good one. I have been working on this dash since July! I do have a proven track record for starting projects...

I will finish this bus! Gotta finish this dash! I spent some time today getting the console built. It still has a ways to go, but it is finally taking shape.

When I picked up my bus on the west coast and drove it to the east coast with no cup holders, I said it would be the first thing I put in it when I get home. Simple yet extremely important.

Same thing for me; I ended up spilling several beers during my drive from CA back to MD.

totallty love the way that dash is shaping up!! i want that steering wheel!!!!! I have wanted to replace the wheel in my bus for a longtime.. when I go to order one there are all kinds of mounting options.. how do you determine what your mounting is when you buy one?

cup-holders.. ive gone through a couple iterations.. nothing built in.. i want to be able to take the cup holder inside and clean it easily.. they get nasty after awhile..

my DEV bus..

The progress looks good, the binnacle looks good and the cup holders look good

There were cuphoders, weren't there?

I am right behind you in making progress. Just set up a lifetime want of a TIG so now the new dash support bracketry and new electrical distribution panel can be fabricated.

Keep going!

I am slightly embarrassed to report that my steering wheel is a ruse. It's a $30 cover from Amazon. The cupholders in my console will be removable as well. Your dashboards look like aircraft cockpits; I dig the displays.

Everybody loves the binnacle (me too). Congrats on the TIG setup; one skill (of many) I wish I had...

I was going to ask you where you got your steering wheel until I looked closer and noticed that it's just a cover that's probably way cheaper than the steering wheel, does look good though.

So I guess I don't need that EPM Override dash switch. A buzzer and a time delay relay, but no EPM. I need to get smart on this drivetrain...

ha!! I didnt notice it was a cover... hey it looks great regardless!!!! the end result is what matters.. which means a trip to the jumkyard for a Bluebird steering wheel and a $30 cover could give me what im after lol!!
