help please

My husband and I have a 1997 amtran international bus the flat nose rear engine.

Over the course of a day and a half we've been running into a mind boggling problem, the emergency exit buzzing will not fricken stop, no matter what we do every last hatch is shut, the roof, everything has been checked multiple times and it still won't turn off. We have the child safety crap still in here..

how do you suppose we take it out?? there's lost of videos for bluebirds and Thomas's but nothing for amtran international

Disclosure- we can still start the bus and drive it's just so annoying

I had a Thomas with a similar issue.

I unplugged the buzzer.

But how?? The whole electrical system is Soo much, I watched some videos about taking out the anti theft child safety stuff and it look kind of difficult, it's like a little metal box next to all your fuses? I just don't want to take anything out I shouldn't.

If you listen carefully, you can locate the buzzer by sound.

When you find it there will be a plug with two wires attached. Unplug it.

Does the bus have air brakes? If the air pressure in the system is low and key is ON the low air warning buzzer will sound until the engine runs long enough to build pressure.

Just making sure you are determining an open exit buzzer or low air buzzer.

My Gillig used to buzz like that too; it was driving me crazy, so I "unplugged" it. No more buzzing....

My bus doesn't make the same noises for air pressure and the wait to start and emergency exits their all different. I know what it is and it's definitely the emergency buzzer, butni can't figure out why, other than the control panel got wet from my dogs salivating all over the drivers window

We tried doing that, and also taking out all the words that go to each emergency exit door and window but I'm not sure if that will mess it up for goofu

Disconnect one at a time.
Make sure the bus starts.
Plug it back in if its not the culprit.
Move to the next one but leave the ones you have been to hanging/accessible?
Because one you do find the culprit and the bus still started with each individual one disconnected then you can reverse the process and start deleting the system if you want and repurpose the wire runs for exit lighting or something like that.
I don't have any.
But have heard on here of many.
The roof top can be a pain in the but to get positioned or seated properly to keep the buzzer button happyespecially if they have any age on them because of the plastic twisting and warping over time.
Maybe open one hatch at a time and push the button in buy finger and see if it stops the buzzer.
Happy hunting?
Good luck.

My TC2000 was easy, the entire interlock system was a single red wire running back that forked off a few places. I'd assume that the interlock din't just abruptly fail though and that one of the switches is actually switched in the "bad" position.

Jelly,

I just uploaded some wiring diagrams for the roof hatch circuit and the push window circuits for an Amtran bus.

As it has mentioned here before, the switches are normally open when they are in the secured (safe) mode. When you open a push window or roof hatch the switch goes to ground and the buzzer sounds.

Cut one of the wires to the switch and that switch is now disabled.

Here is the thread with the diagrams
Hope it is helpful.

If you haven't solved it yet I can tell you with certainty it's probably the roof hatch or the back window. The back window on mine has a separate buzzer in the back that may be shot so you're not hearing it. Those latches are so finicky the troopers make you close your own window at inspection because they're so hard to shut off.

There's a fuse on your electrical panel that you can also pull.

If you think it's driving you crazy, try driving a bus load of kids with it going off LOL.

It’s just a piezo buzzer... discect it, pull the metal plate out and let it buzz silently all it wants!

I cut all my door contacts and buzzers, I wired a push button starter switch to crank the engine. You can only turn the key on and off but it won't crank the engine, so there is a "push to crank/start" button I use to bypass the starter interlock because that is all that is non op with the exit open/unlocked. Pluss I hit the button so if someone tries to take it from me they are going to have a little more aggravation.

Interesting solution.

I went a different route. I removed the vandal-lock relay and jumpered it so that it is permanently disabled. Everything works as normal and there is no chance for accidental activation.
