I never needed a bender.. I did baby steps and worked sections of my lines slowly and ended up with good bends. just dont get in a hurry and do minor bends over a distance of line and slowly get tighter each time.. dont try to just make a 90 with a single bend..

Reading this post brings back a ton of memories! Fun times!

I used different sizes of paint cans to help bend the copper. There is a learning curve. Be gentle and it goes fine. If it kinks you can heat it some with a torch and squeeze/ease it back.

If you any of you need help with the initial vacuum and charge I have all the stuff and epa section 608 certification.

My dual mini splits are one of the favorite things about my bus. One did have a very slow leak, but seems like it was just a flare nut that was not tight enough.

I hung mine between the frame rails and they have operated with no trouble both stationary and over the road.

I have doors in the skirt I can open for more ventilation, but they seem to work fine either way.

This may explain the spring around my lineset copper. However, nothing in the instructions that said anything about moving the spring.

Your unit or your lines? Normal for the unit to be charged, and the unit will work albeit less than ideal if you just connect the lines and release the refrigerant.

The lines were sealed with refrigerant inside?

Thanks for the input boys. It's just that these units are not popular up here I guess, hardly ever see any for some reason.
I do admire those who can install tubing such as this or for instrumentation purpose, it sure is an art to behold in both copper and stainless. Unbelievable installations with many back to back 90 degree bends in parallel runs etc. Just blows my mind how good these guys are at their trade.

Quick disconnects; brilliant.

Here is a pic of the indoor unit mocked up.

Has anyone come up with anything for mounting a condenser on a bus without giant storage boxes underneath?

When we started our conversion a mini split was the plan. However, after talking with an HVAC guy we have worked with a few times, he seemed to think the condenser’s scroll compressor would be damaged if used while bouncing down the road. Has anyone experienced this?

I’d love to replace my window unit, last time I took it out I dropped the freaking thing on my head and still had to go down with it so it didn’t smash to the ground. Plus it looks kind of bad sticking out of an emergency exit. Works well though.

I have storage boxes but, my AC units aren't in them. Front one is between frame rails in front of the front axle. Rear one is where original AC condenser was mounted, left side behind rear axle.

I'm putting mine up on the roof.

I notched the roof to accommodate.

Has anyone looked into 24v dc mini splits. I know they would take some higher amps than 110v but would be much more effiecent than the typical RV AC units. I would like to be able to run the AC off of my battery bank and a 24v dc generator.

I used 24" under body truck box mounts and bolted to the frame

The marine units are pricey but pretty efficient, and very robust.

I believe the modern stuff in nominal DC are inverter-based anyway, so likely not worth the extra money compared to the mainstream mains-powered units.

Has anyone used a mini split with the ceiling cassette configuration?

I mounted mine between the frame rails. 10,000 miles later they are still working fine.

Thanks for the info everyone. I think that a mini split with an inverter compressor set up for 12v or 24v would be more efficient than using an inverter to run a conventional 110v ac unit. From what I was reading the 110v ac unit first coverts from ac to dc and then switches the dc to create the frequency to drive the motor. If using a battery bank using dc would eliminate the inefficencies of inverting and then rectifying the currant.
