Sealing Windows

We recently bought a 1984 chevy bus and are beginning our first conversion.We have already took out the seats and removed the rubber floor covering,there was no rust in the floor,thank goodness.We have also used a rust preventer and covered the metal flooring with it.We are getting ready to pull all the windows and reseal them.Is butyl tape or putty tape the best thing to use for resealing?Just want to be sure we are doing things the right way, being this is our first conversion.Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance.

Ours came from the factor with Butyl tape. We scraped it all off, down to bare metal, and used 3M Dynatron 550 seam sealer from Autozone. We still had leaks after resealing the windows. It's not a big hassle to remove and reseal the windows, maybe 2 days work on our 11-row bus.

Just a heads up: Our leaks were from water coming in the rubber gasket between the glass and the aluminum frame (where glazing would be on a home window). The water then migrated to the corners of the aluminum frame and into the bus.
If I'd have known this, I wouldn't have removed and resealed the windows at all....I'd have put a bead of seam sealer over the gasket/glazing.

I will second the OEM grade seam sealer over butyl tape. And yes...if the glazing goes south...there will be water coming in. It is a good idea to do that at the same time.
