Sika 1A for window sealing

Hello all, I know this has been talked about many times but I am ready to re-seal my windows and I wanted to confirm what I am doing before I go ahead and do it. My plan is to use 1/4" wide butyl tape around the window and then seal the outside seams with sika 1A. Does anyone think I should not use sika 1A for the outside seams? I have a bunch handy which is why I was going to use it.

You should be OK with Sikaflex 1A as long as it is for sealing only. If it is to also secure the glass then Sikaflex 220+ would be the right stuff. Both products are easy (and messy) to use, sort of clean up with mineral spirits (nothing else) and are paintable with water or oil base paint.

Hello Jack -

We're using Sikaflex 220+ for the windows where the glass meets aluminum (and considering Dynatron 550 for seals), but what kind of sikaflex would we use for other stuff, like bus seams, and between roof metal and a polycarbonate skylight?

And do we need to clamp after any of these applications?

Thanks so much!
