Slide-Outs
Where can I find someone to install some slide-outs on my bus? And does anyone know roughly how much that would cost?

location might help a little as well as what bus?
you are asking for something that if you found someone to do it then you should question there experience and ask for pictures of previous work.
the cost?
a manufacturer that already does it but in a bus? not being negative but they might not exist so you would have to find a custom builder that you think you trust and fork over more than you paid for your bus and then some and get what you get?. if i had the time and the shop and money? i would think of the idea and maybe build not draw a working concept/idea and rebuild a few more times until it was actually a good idea/workable and then a price could be put together.
material? experience with the idea and function? and time to do it?
is all in who you hire?
slide outs on a bus is not a cheap or easy idea.

I’m in the Florida Panhandle.
Yeah, I want to know if there’s anybody that exists that does this. I thought I read on here once that there’s a company out in Washington or Oregon or something that does this. But I couldn’t find that post.
I don’t have the bus yet. We’ve got a skoolie we’ve been in for years, but as our family grows we need something with slide-outs. Trying to decide if it’s cheaper/better to fork over the money for an RV and truck or fork over the money for a bus and slide-outs. Both RV’s and trucks are stupid expensive right now.

have only been in florida twice and one was on ship and never got of in tampa.
the other a marine friend of mine was from a little town in the panhandle and i cant find the town on google map but while we were there we went to a rodeo and it wasnt jasper but the family was peanut farmers.
and me being from texas we got along.
i know this dont help in your search for slides but your area could?
OK anyone here remember a company that did school bus slide outs?
heck if i ever win a lottery i might rent an RV just to see how the slides work?
gotta be hydraulics and then what weight the slides handle?
to many extra working parts for me and i have built a bus and camped with 10 boys and 5 men.
at that point the bus is a transport and once parked maybe the bathroom and kitchen.
or a fire pit tents and a cat hole.
once again an opinion?
i have two buses right now.
the original was built as a family camper to the kids size at the time with full everything?
but as the kids grew up they were to big for what was built earlier.
think small mattress and then they needed queen and king length?
turned into comfy protected seating for the scouts to ride on camping trips.
yes i used it as a transport but we all backpacked for the week or weekend.
my second one is a shortie being built for a single person.
specific built.
there are other options to building a bigger bus with slide outs? they are not going to be at home forever. visit sure. but all of that money and time spent to make them happy and give you piece of mind?
once they are grown and gone then you will want to remodel again.
once my wifes bus is done then its my turn for my older bus.
plan for now in your life or plan for later?
i built for the exact moment in my childrens life.
never thought of them growing up?
wait a minute my wife the architecht at the time didnt? its tough to argue with a south texas irish redhead?

Why yes, yes I do.
Slide Out Units
This company sells slideouts for adding into existing buses and whatnot. I've never used them and know nothing more about them than their website. And, I don't even know if I'll want to use them after reading about slideouts and accidents (when the bus comes to a very sudden stop from 55MPH, the slideout may decide it wants to keep going) but here's a link to them anyway.

Mission Bus
There are five pages photos of a nice diy installation in the
Albumhost's Mission Bus Albulm
They built a fabulous rig.
You mentioned expandability. They diy built their trailing RV, too.
Well planned out. You might get some ideas there.

Is a slideout the only option you are considering? Have you found any resources on what to do instead of (or before you go to the expense of) such a thing?

I cannot see the value in a slide-out.
First there is a giant opening in the side of the bus that needs to be made structurally strong. I bought a skoolie because it is very structurally stong, why compromise that?
Second there is the issue of reliability, I have seen and heard many horror stories of slides that did not function well. If it's not there it can't be a problem.
Third, how much weight does this add to your possibly overweight Bus?
All of these are just my opinion, and I think a Skoolie should be self built with an eye toward simple, low cost living. If you need more space, go outside, the fresh air is wonderful! I refer to my Bus as a steel camping tent......

Skoolie Slide Out w/ VW
These were posted by the Original
Steve back in 2004
The craftsmanship and diy engineering make skoolie building fun & interesting.
I want to send my Progressive agent these pics.
Just for fun....
--------------
If you consider the diy route, peruse Vlad's build thread, skoolie.net/98-bluebird-tc2000-conversion-2-feet-roof-raise-3-slideouts
(Lots of photos, well documented)
