Using 5 Gallon jugs for water

Hello everyone, this is my first post....

My son and I are converting a short bus, and are now looking at ways to install water - thinking of using 5 gallon jugs - one with water for drinking and doing dishes and one to use as the vessel for when we drain the sink - I have looked at a lot of water bottle pumps, however wondering if anyone has done a conversion where you can mount the pump on the counter top and run a tube or pipe to the water bottle to access the water, (so we can hide the water bottles under the cupboards)and then a simple pipe from the sink drain into the empty bottle for waste water?

I’ve seen that a couple times in builds on YouTube. One of those hand pump faucets should work fine that way.

Don't know if this would be an upgrade or downgrade, but the shape, size, & location of the fill hole might be a good fit for what you're imagining. We've been using these for years for static water storage:

I might suggest using a foot pump as it frees up your hands. I like a manual pump as you use a lot less water than with an electric pump. Whale makes a couple of good models:

Thank you for all the responses so far, I am hoping to use 5 gallon water jugs, the challenge is they are designed to connect directly to the jug - what I am hoping it to create an extender from the water jug, up to the counter, and the spout sits on the counter, so an extension from the jug to the counter top. Does that make sense?

A 5 gallon tank could be located above the sink and use gravity, no pump needed, if all you need is water for washing or dispensing into a cup.

I'm sure you could get a piece of tubing to slip over the inlet to your pump so you could mount it on the counter. Hose clamps to secure.

We did a foot pump with 7 gallon jugs on a previous build in a shuttle bus. Highly recommended, it was simple and effective.

How did your hand pump sink turnout? I'm about to do mine and want to know what you ended up doing to complete it. Im pretty sure I have all the materials I need but I just need instructions on the set up. Im planning on one 5 gal for fresh water & one 5 gal for gray. My hand pump and sink are already mounted and installed. Thanx✌
