Isn't there some sort of aerosol bottle of spray magic out there with a special fitting that is designed to inject lubricant down into a control cable? I seem to remember that from working on motorcycles, but it could be that I saw it in a bike shop.

Or maybe this is a special much larger diesel vent cable, and that won't work.

Yes, you can get cable-lubing devices.

However, the need to lubricate cables pretty much disappeared when they started lining the outer sleeves with teflon. A little dry-lube might help, but mostly they don't need anything.
