wheel or hub conversion

I have a 1977 Ward school bus on a International 1600 chassis. The tires are 8.25 -20. Wheel bolt pattern is 10 lugs on a 8-3/4 in diameter. This size tire is supposedly no longer available and if you can find them there up to $500 each.

I need to find a 22 inch wheel with the 10 by 8-3/4 in bolt pattern or convert my axles and front hubs to 10 by 11-1/4 lug pattern.

Anyone out there had this problem? Any idea where to get tires or wheels?

i would change the axles to upgrade the brake system and maybe suspension stuff where you can.
ALCOA will have your rims.

$60 steel 22.5 diameter 8.25 wide.... These are likely wider than the ones you have now.

They seem to have a pile of them

These are not a rare item. they are not a super common item, but plenty of them around. I'm bettin you can even find them in aluminum if you want them

Might try going to an agricultural focused tire shop, one that also does tractor tires, because sometimes farmers have those classic old farm trucks that they want to keep authentic vintage and they'll likely run the same size tires you're looking for. Otherwise, if you're not trying to stay authentic with your bus then I'm with Jolly_Roger_bus_223 that a full axle swap has a lot of advantages including better brakes and also you may likely benefit from better gear ratio for fuel economy.

Van der haags. This is a truck salvage yard. Several locations. Kansas City is the one closest to me. Search for parts using their website.

William

Check with heavy truck salvage closest to you and work your way farther away from you.
