do a search on thism site, i remember seeing a set of pictures where the panel to the left of the ear door had been cut out and framed up and then reinstalled making a 2/3 width barn door setup. hd piano hinges are available from Fastenal, d luckMSC, McMaster Carr, etc thru their online catalogs. good luck.
