Windows

I would like to replace some of my bus windows with house windows. Would it be ok to cut out one or two metal studs?

The windows really should be tempered glass, so I recommend RV windows, not residential. Additionally, residential windows are not necessarily going to hold up as well as RV windows due to vibration. Having said that, some here have used residential windows and report no issues. Aren't you concerned they might not have the aesthetic appeal? (translation: would they look stupid on a bus?).

Great question about chassis structural mods. I'll let others with roof raise experience chime in on whether removing one or more of those might compromise integrity or impact rollover safety.

ol trunt's windows

Welcome to skoolie.net, Monroe32.

You gotta check out
ol trunt's windows. All of his posts, really. A true Master...

Additional photos & details here:

Hopefully, he will see this thread & let us know how they're holding up. Last I heard, all good, no fog in-between.

...Meanwhile
Cutting a rib? Idk why not. Not two in a row, every other...

What sort of bus do you have, Monroe32?

We have an IC RE300. The details are located in my User Profile, to the left of this paragraph.👈 The Registry link (underlined) contains photos and detailed descriptions.

You too, can add your information to your User Profile by clicking on [User CP], top of each page, then select [Edit Your Details] from the menu.
.

Selecting [Add Vehicle] will create a Registry file, where we're able make periodic updates, as our builds progress.

Is your Thomas a Van, Dognose or Flatnose?

I used resi windows, did a roof raise and only cut one beam for a bedroom window in the loft area. All the others I ordered to fit in the existing width.

It is a Larsen security storm door from Lowe’s. It fit perfect in the previous frame.

The first option is to remove and reseal every single bus window (and you still may have leaks).

Its a secure storm door, membrane in between sheets of glass, cannot break through it. 2 metal hooks latch into the frame of the base when closed. This door is going no where, The sales video is a guy wailing on it with a sledge hammer, the glass cracks but no entry.
