the lights that make up the flashers are standard sealed beam headlight bulbs on the buses i've worked on. Seems you could wire them to a switch to stay on continuously, remove the red/amber lenses and make a suitable bracket to hold the bulbs in place and you'd have free bright white lights up there. Might not be legal, but if you use them wisely you'll prob not have a problem.
