So I'm guessing then that you don't use the GasBuddy or Waze apps when travelling...

No worries. We are a family of 4. In our old house, internet was $56~ a month and phones were about $90.

lots of times l've driven the 25 miles to the nearest small city and didn't meet another vehicle on the road - in my village, waiting for 3 vehicles to pass at the main intersection is jokingly called a traffic jam

So I thought my compressor was making funny noises, it's not, it's the air dryer. Model 62 Brakemaster.

Found this online. Says that I can clean the filter in solvents. I didn't see a specification on what solvent. I suppose I just need to take it off and open it up? Pull out the filter, clean it, dry it, put back together.

Also wondering if the purge valve could be the issue? Looking online at the moment. Any help appreciated [emoji16]Click image for larger version

yeah but what do those solvents do to the filter that was never designed to be cleaned?
then it falls apart and puts all those little particulates into air orifices that it shouldnt be?
i know what it says but your profile makes me laugh everytime?
6.6 new holland that dies?
might try a filter?

Hahaha, I never realized it said dies. I just fixed that, thanks. Yeah, I don't really want to clean the filter. I think it may be the valve. I'd like to fix it before it breaks. I may just have to find one and swap it out? I dunno

Left yesterday Carlsbad NM and headed west to Holloman Lake just outside of White Sands National Monument. Took the mountain route. Slow easy climb against the wind. Stayed around 35-40 on the way up. Heading down the mountain was quite the experience. 6% grade for 15 miles. Stab breaker from 35 down to 25. Smelt the brakes heating up a couple times so pulled off twice to let them cool down. Overall, she handled pretty well. Next time, we will unhook the suv for grades like that.

Holloman Lake is free camping on gov land. Lots of spots to park. Wouldn't take a 40' past the first three or four spots though. Also, the water in the lake is no good for swimming, boating, or fishing. But it is pretty.Click image for larger version

Ah shucks, would have been cool to meet up. We are headed west tomorrow, trying to decide which route for Yosemite. Will probably end up taking the southern route. We are considering the northern route and stopping at the Grand Canyon but don't think we have enough time to enjoy it. Need to be at Yosemite by the 2nd.

Yesterday the engine started sounding different at high speeds. Higher pitched and I could really hear the turbo spool. Pulled over, checked fluids and decided I couldn't do anything at that point besides that. I have roadside assistance so I said screw it, of it blows up, it blows up.

Found a truck stop to overnight about 50 miles away. Temp stayed good, oil pressure was good, had more power??

So I crawl under and the damn'd exhaust pipe had come apart about a foot from where the exhaust exits the engine. Guess I'll band clamp it for now and do a whole delete later and straight pipe it out behind the drive tireClick image for larger version

What the heck! If the exhaust gasses are taken away in the slip stream, I'd say leave it that way. So long as it does get blown away.
If there's a chance it could eddy and infiltrate the cockpit, I wouldn't want all y'all blown away!
Any guesstimates &/or observations on the (to quote Tim Allen) more power?
Unh! Unh-unh!
(sorry...)
Been thinking seriously of deleting that source of back pressure from my rig, and would love a side-by-each comparison!
Happy Trails, and tell Yosemite howdy for me, please.

Well, normally, without towing, she makes at 54 mph. I got up to 57-58 after the exhaust break lol. This is just what I noticed on the flat sections of road. Hard to get an actual measurement in the mountains here

I have the exact same max speed, Beetle in tow, or not!
So, thanx, that is very helpful info!

So, I tried band clamping the exhaust back together. However, the top pipe is not 4" in diameter, it is smaller. I am using JB weld Muffler Weld to hold the two pieces together long enough to use JB Weld Ultra Heat Wrap to build up the upper pipe and connect them. After, I will put a band clamp on the whole thing. I'm running the exhaust out under the drivers window for nowClick image for larger version

Ok, new exhaust routing is done. I've left the muffler and other parts still attached for the moment because I don't want to have to haul nasty parts outClick image for larger version

How does it sound, now that the muffler is only keel ballast?
