With enough motor noise, the last place I would exit my exhaust is right under my drivers window.

is under the driver window the final routing or did you run it back further?
the main air intake for the defrosters is right under the driver window... not sure i'd want my exhaust there right below that

I'm in the middle of blm land in Joshua Tree CA. It'll get me to where I'm going until I can route it farther down. It's better than exhausting at my feet

The pipe came apart just in the middle.of the chassis frame in the pic. Anything is better than there. Once I have time to pull the muffler out and take the extra longer piece of pipe off, I'll bring it farther down. Just don't have much room because I have my batteries, then propane tank, then gray tank.
May have to just pipe it up past the roof once I get to North Dakota.
Anyways, I don't idle a lot. If the bus is on, she's usually moving. We will see how it goes.
Yeah, not best placement for the defroster. I'll have to work on it's placement

Well, I guess the exhaust location was temporary, as it came apart coming down the mountain. Luckily, the straps held it up until we could pull off. I've removed it for now and it's once again exhausting under my feet...
I guess I'll have to completely remove it and have an extension welded on. Then I can repipe it.
Anyone know a welder near Sacramento CA?

I would imagine that in an area as heavily populated as Sacramento, if there isn't 100's of welders, there are 1000's capable of welding an exhaust pipe - did you look in the yellow pages? - there are likely several ads for welders with mobile rigs that would be glad to come to you to do the job - the area population of my village and surrounding area is 3000 people - there are at least 2 mobile welding rigs, several welders that make their living that way, some of them will throw their machine onto the back of their pickup and make a house call if they like you or if the job is interesting to them ( I bet "Dwayne" would be here in a heart beat if I told him I wanted to make a hot rod or a newly designed rig for training my dogs - if I told him it was for an exhaust repair he might yawn and say he was busy watching the game - lol ) then there are the home handy men in uncounted numbers that have their own welders that are from adequate to skilled welders themselves - shouldn't be hard to find one at all - put up a request on social media, look in the yellow pages, phone your local garage

How about your local muffler shop? I got lucky today, was at the Dr. getting a prescription for chronic pot cough. Guy comes and asks about my powder coating. Turns out he's mobile welder from my town. I told him to stop by when he left the office. He did and we went over all the welding I needed. He'll be out here to do it tomorrow and quoted half what I had budgeted. Been playing phone tag with another welder since beginning of Feb. I think , like Sled said, I think it isn't a job that gets him excited. This new welder likes the build and offered some solutions to an issues I was having hanging the ladder.

Once I get to Sacramento and have a chance to pull the part, I'll look for a welder. I'm sure a mobile one will be easy to find

Sorry, didn't see this until just now. I was referring to the overhead clearance lights above those. The original school bus flashing red/yellows ARE, in fact, legal to remove. I must have misunderstood you. Carry on

Funny, but seeing as glazed shoe linings can have less effective braking, and there could be more than simple glazing going on here, I'd say you can pay a little now, or a lot later.

Thanks! It is sure interesting living in the bus in this weather. We have this 1500 watt heater running the front and our mini split in the back. Its been keeping up fairly well despite the negative temperatures.
We skirted all the way around with 2" board and a 1500 watt heater underneath. Thats 1/2" on the windshield amd the grill. Reflectix on the windows. Some of the windows freeze up at around -10 (with windchill -33).
We get some drips from the ribs as the temps rise out of the negatives. This will be our only season up here lol. Its home though!

Update time! We have left North Dakota and our making our way back to FL. The bus has been doing great. We hit Yellowstone, The Grand Tetons, Arches (Moab) and are not at Zion. Drove Fire Gorge. It was insane and I don't recommend it.
At least one of our house batteries is bad but I haven't had a chance to test more than one. I removed the one from our system for now. We have been staying at campgrounds with electric, but not long enough to dig into it. We added a cabinet above the sink instead of the shelf we had as well.
Did a lube job and changed the oil before we made this trip. Hope everyone is doing well.
