She's a beaut! Lots of potential there, can't wait to see the transformation, too!

Re: Davis Family 1993 Carpenter (Big Blue Too)
I've been collecting some parts at garage sales and online classifieds. I've found some pretty good deals lately.
I'm excited!!!!
pair of captains chairs and bench seat from 1995 Chrysler van, nice grey leather. $50
Big, heavy duty receiver hitch (will modify for bus) $5
Tow bar (will use on Tracker) $12.50
four big RV windows (have the sliding portion with screen on bottom) $10
Big bottle jack $10
Seems as if I don't get in a hurry and just keep my eyes open, stuff just kinda finds me!

Re: Davis Family 1993 Carpenter (Big Blue Too)
I haven't had time to work on the bus much since I brought it home. It finally got colder here, about 30 today. So I thought I'd see how the bus started in colder weather. It cranked for a few seconds and fired right up. Anyway, when I brought the bus home from Fla. I heard a clicking noise under the dash whenever it was running. Sounded like a circuit breaker resetting itself. I thought maybe there was a short from when the lights were disconnected. I pulled the dash apart today and after several minutes of looking and listening, I finally found the noise...........the hour meter! it clicks about every five seconds whenever the ignition is on. It's loud enough you can hear it while driving. It's not particularly bothersome, but when I didn't know what it was, it was driving me crazy! It's in the tach, which works intermittently anyway so it will get replaced soon. Boy I'm glad I found that.

Re: Davis Family 1993 Carpenter (Big Blue Too)
Here's a little teaser for y'all. I'm in the process of building an all aluminum 4'x8' roof deck with collapsible railing for the bus. Pictures soon!!!

WOO HOO! Pictures! I'm planning to build a roof deck on my bus too. Not the whole roof, but enough on the back of the bus for 5 or 6 people to sit on. Maybe a 4x8. Are you using metal or wood or what?

Re: 1993 Carpenter/Spartan
Brad,
I've got a '95 Carpenter FE lined up to purchase as soon as the snow melts from my shop lot.
Looks almost identical to yours. It's got the 5.9 & AT545, Spartan Chassis, 124K in excellent condition, no rust.

Re: 1993 Carpenter/Spartan
Welcome Neal,
Sorry, I haven't visited in a while, been busy with some other stuff. Anyhow, have you got your new bus yet? Sounds just like mine except I have the MT643 instead of the 545. You'll love driving it, it drives awesome for being so big. I boght mine from floridachurchbus.com and Greg said these were the nicest driving buses he's ever driven.

Re: 1993 Carpenter/Spartan
Hello,
I'm shopping for my bus and have seen several that I'm interested in in FLA, how did you handle the registration for your trip home, what did you register it as?
Thank you
