2004 Thomas aka Ella

Hey guys!


I am so excited to have finally bought a bus, but also sign a lease for some industrial space to work on it!



Ella is a 30" Thomas, that is going to get cut in half with a 12" roof raise, roof top deck, solar, and a mid century modern design.



I am going to be doing all of the work myself so I am going to have a lot of questions!

Aren’t Thomas buses the ones that have to be raised below the windows because of the change of the angle? I remember reading something about that somewhere. But looked like my twin just a little shorter.

They don't *have* to be. But it sure makes for a better looking result.
They bend inward 6 degrees at the bottom of the window line.

Around here shops like that rent for around $800-$1000/m. Issue is finding one available, been waiting a year for one.

Whew, what would have been nice! This one is $1400 plus utilities and insurance.



Got all, but one seat out of the bus! I am struggling to figure out how to get the last 1 out. The bolts on the horizontal rib are spinning and I cant get the wrench on it.

When I went to Ocala,Fla in 2017, my buddy had 2 bays that were only $300-$400/m. I did not enjoy those 5 months there, and will not go back.

Also heating a large shop is hella expensive in winter up here. Especially if its an older building. My bus terminal has one giant building with 12 bays and they spend up to 10 grand a winter just in heating bills.

Oof that's unfortunate. All of mine came out with no fuss. If I was in your position I would just hack the seat to pieces with a grinder and sawall until I could get to the bolt easily with a grinder.

That is my plan for tomorrow. I am going to crawl under the seat as much as possible. It is the one directly over the wheel well so not much space and see if I can remove the bench portion of the seat and I should be able to get to the tops easy enough.



I will have to cut the front "walls" out because I do not have any anyone to hold a wrench under the bus.
